How You Can Help! #prayforhouston
If you are not yet aware, Houston is going through a very difficult time due to this crazy hurricane. It makes my heart ache to see my beautiful hometown in its current state. It makes me scared for my family and friends who still live there. Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. and it has received more that 30in of rain and it is still going to increase. Many have lost just power but others have lost everything. I have done some research today on some of the ways we can all come together and help Houston through this difficult time.
The American Red Cross is providing shelter, meals and comfort to all those that have been impacted. They are also seeking donations. This organization is urging people to make a minimum donation of $10 by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or text HARVEY to 90999.
The Salvation Army will remain in the communities that have been impacted. They are also seeking donations to help provide long-term disaster recovery efforts and assistance to those in need.
The Texas Diaper Bank is in need of monetary and diaper donations to provide kits to families that are being displaced. Donations can be made at: texasdiaperbank.networkforgood.com or by calling (210) 731-8118.
The Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, established by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, is accepting donations for flood victims.
The Family Business Beer Company is also partnering up with Random Acts to help the impacted families. Donations can be made at: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/team/texas-flood-relief/familybusinessbeercompany
YOUCARING established by JJWatt is accepting large or small donations.
I heard earlier today, Cinco Ranch High School as well as Morton Ranch High School are accepting donations as well. However, as of right now, I'm not sure if they are still taking any more.
I will continue to search for ways we can keep helping. Near or far, imagine if each one of us were to give $5-$20, it could make a big impact! So happy I have this little platform to turn to in moments like these. Let's come together and help my beautiful city recover!
