On Finding Your Purpose And What Everyone Seems to Overlook

On Finding Your Purpose And What Everyone Seems to Overlook

There comes a time where everyone starts trying to figure out what their purpose in life is? It’s like this exhausting quest we’ve decided to go on because we hear about how we “need a purpose” and that finding your purpose automatically means your life will make sense.

I’ve been through many stages of thinking I know what my purpose is only to have it change a few months later. I guess the problem of being multi-passionate is that it’s really hard to pick just one thing haha, but that alone tells me that my purpose isn’t necessarily a fixed path.

I’ve noticed that I can do this through my writing. I already love blogging so much, and I feel that this blog has become such a huge part of my life and somehow I’ve managed to help others through my writing.

SO WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL, LAURA? SEEMS LIKE YOU’VE GOT IT ALL FIGURED OUT.

HA. YEAH RIGHT...

The problem is that I know where I'm headed but it just seems so far off the distance sometimes. The huge elephant in the room is that I still need to make a living. Luckily, for me, I have an incredible supporting husband and there's no rush but I think there's this misconception that once you figure out your purpose, you'll set in the money department and make millions of dollars because you are doing what you're passionate about.

As a blogger, I have made a little bit here and there, but it's no where near to what I want. If I want to make a living through writing, lots of things need to happen before that becomes a reality. My main struggle is that I know what needs to happen, but having the patience and energy to get all of those things done is HARD. There is SO much that needs to be done. Those of you who know me, know that one of my flaws is not being too patient. So when I'm not seeing results as quickly as I want it can get pretty discouraging.

Ultimately what drives me though, is the idea that I can make a difference in other people's lives. Whether I get paid or not, helping others is very fulfilling to me. Making a living from doing what I love is just the icing on the cake, and I truly believe it will become a reality. Hopefully sooner than later.

Even though I'm not where I want to be yet, I don’t believe in sitting around and waiting for opportunities to just turn up out of nowhere, which is why I’m continuing to push through all of this. I am confident in myself and this journey, and I believe that it’s all going to be worth it. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, am I right?

I’m an optimist at heart, and when the discouragement takes over, I know that I can revisit my vision and know that I’m getting closer to where I want to be.

I wouldn't normally talk about this, I still like to keep some parts of my life private but I believe it’s important to remind each other that YOU CAN DO IT. Once we have found our purpose, we are all capable of making our purpose come to reality!

Much love, Laura
